Jordan Metro Leads Interactive Webinar for Climate Finance IMM Playbook

Jordan Metro, Manager of Impact Accountability at Prime Coalition, recently contributed to a joint webinar hosted by the American Evaluation Association’s (AEA) Social Finance and Environmental Program Evaluation Topical Interest Groups, where he led a conversation around the Climate Finance Impact Measurement and Management (IMM) Playbook—a new resource being built by Prime and Climate SMILE designed to lower barriers to entry and provide practical, accessible IMM tools across key impact areas, including GHG mitigation, adaptation & resilience, biodiversity, Just Transition water, and circular economy.

The webinar gathered a diverse group of evaluators and climate finance professionals to explore and shape the emerging Climate Finance IMM Playbook.

Jordan introduced the playbook’s objectives and development status, then guided participants through key elements such as defining impact objectives, integrating multiple impacts, and weighing backward versus forward-looking assessments.

Jordan also invited critical feedback on the current content—what’s working, what’s missing, and how the playbook can be most useful in practice. During the live discussion, the audience provided feedback emphasizing the importance of showing useful examples, covering metrics beyond GHGs, and using decision trees to guide decision-making.

If you missed the webinar, you can watch the recording and share your feedback with the AEA’s Social Finance and Environmental Program Evaluation Topical Interest Groups.

A special thanks to the active participation and thoughtful contributions of the attendees, to the other webinar speakers Marta Arranz of Climate SMILE and Alexandra Zoueva of The Rockefeller Foundation, and to the organizers, Ichiro Toda of the Independent Evaluation Group of the World Bank Group, and AEA's Environmental Program Evaluation TIG members, Veronica Worthington, and Evan Kuras for their partnership in making this webinar a success. Jordan and the broader team are taking home valuable insights that will strengthen the next iteration of the playbook, which is set to be published this fall.
