Climate Tech Investors Can’t Afford to Repeat Past Mistakes

According to the International Energy Agency, around 35% of the greenhouse gas reductions needed to meet even the most basic goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change must come from technologies currently at the prototype or demonstration phase. We need these hardware climate tech companies to scale as quickly as possible. But deploying capital in the wrong ways and to the wrong places has the same effect as not deploying capital at all.

Two types of capital in particular are needed: early-stage catalytic capital and first of-a-kind project finance.
